A Successful Charity Dinner in Slough - Over £60,000 raised

Slough held its third annual charity dinner in aid of Bewal International Hospital on Sunday 18th of January. The event held at The Bayliss House was organised by Ch. Mohammed Ishtiaq, the chairman of the South wing of Abdul Rehman Memorial Trust. The event was supported by local councillors, Lord Mayor of Slough Cllr. Raja M. Zarait, Lord Mayor of Birmingham Cllr.Ch. A. Rasheed JP, local MPs Fiona McTaggart, Verinder Sharma, Martin Salter and Baroness Saeeda Warsi. Others in attendance were members of the local community as well as others from different parts of the country such as London, Birmingham, Bradford, Aylesbury and Luton. Over 300 people attended the function, helping to raise over £60,000 for this worthy cause.

All the speakers congratulated Dr Atiq-Ur Rehman, Chairman of Abdul Rehman Memorial Trust on initiating this project and delivering what he promised a few years ago at the very first function in Slough. Dr Rehman presented an up to date progress of the Hospital and told the audience that he hopes to start phase 1 of the project in April 2009. This will cover the three key areas of health sector such as Accident and Emergency, Maternity and outpatient service. The audience were made aware of the essential requirements for this initial phase to start such X-ray machines, USS machines and a small laboratory. A lot of these were on order and the money raised on the day help pay for these equipments. Dr Atiq-Ur Rehman finished his speech by thanking Ch. Ishtiaq and his helpers for organising a very successful dinner and also every body who took time out to come and support this noble cause.

This third annual charity dinner in Slough was a great success and the management of Abdul Rehman Memorial Trust wishes to thank all those who contributed by either donating or just being there for support. May Allah accept all their dua’s.
