Bradford Charity Function 2007 - A Huge
Success raising £59,000 !!! |
In connection with the continuous
fund raising movement, a charity
function was organised in Bradford on
the 18th of March 2007 which was a huge
success. This event was attended by over
400 local residents from Bradford,
Leeds, Heckmond Wike, Halifax, Keightley,
Rochdale and surrounding areas. A
whopping £59,000 was raised during that
evening. 6 rooms were donated for the
hospital costing £4000 each by Choudhary
Abid Hussain, Mr Ranjit Singh, Choudhary
Mehboob Hussain Senior, Mirza Yaqoob
(Late) Family, Swera Foundation and
Choudhary Mohammed Shabbir.
This
function was organised by a committee
comprising of Choudhary Abid Hussain,
Choudhary Liaqat Hussain, Mirza Mohammed
Javed, Choudhary Mehboob Hussain Senior,
Choudhary Munir Hussain, Mr Taj Haider
and Mr Anwer Zaidi. Chief Guest of the
event was Lord Mayor of the Bradford
City Council, Mr Aurangzaib.
The
function was started with the recitation
of Holy Quran performed by Majid Nadeem
Ahmed. A young child from Bradford read
the naat in the honour of holy prophet
Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). Mr
Atiq-ur-Rehman the chairman of Abdul
Rehman Memorial Trust thanked the
audience for attending the event and for
their support which in his words gives
him a huge courage to take this great
project forward. In a presentation he
briefed the audience on the ongoing
building process of the hospital. He
said that the outer 4 storey shell of
building is almost finished with an
expenditure of £175,000 approx.
In support of fundraising appeal Lord
Mayor Aurangzaib chief guest of this
event emphasised the importance of
healthcare facilities in the rural area
of Pakistan. He was very concerned and
disappointed to know the maternal death
rate in Pakistan during the childbirth
which is 1 in 20. Project like Bewal
International Hospital is really going
to make a big difference to save
valuable lives in the region.
The
function was also addressed by Choudhary
Abid Hussain, Choudhary Liaqat Hussain,
Qazi Ishtiaq, Mirza Mohammed Javed,
Choudhary Abdul Qayyum, Professor Khamas,
Taj Haider, Mr Shami and Choudhary
Mohammed Saeed.
