Birmingham Charity Dinner 2007 - Evening
of Inspiration |
Doctors, businessmen and people from
all walks of life have contributed
generously in a charity dinner hosted by
the ARM Trust to raise funds for Bewal
International Hospital, in Birmingham on
the 7th of July 2007.
Over 17,000
pounds were raised during the evening as
scores of people promised to donate more
in future towards this noble cause that
aims at provision of better health
facilities to masses living in Bewal,
Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan and remote
parts of Azad Kashmir.
Deputy
Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor
Michael Nangle and Mr Arif Mahmood,
Consulate of Pakistan High Commission in
Birmingham were the Chief Guests on the
occasion while the central leader of
RESPECT, Councillor Salma Yaqoob and a
large number of doctors and their
families also attended the charity
programme.
Dr Atiq-ur-Rehman
consultant surgeon and head of ARM TRUST
explained the salient features of Bewal
International Hospital and emphasised
the need of continued financial and
moral support towards the early
completion of that huge project. He said
he is fully satisfied with the response
of people so far as they understand the
project and its importance for a common
poor person of Bewal and its suburbs. He
said time is not far when Bewal
International Hospital starts serving
people with missionary zeal.
Councillor Salma Yaqoob lauded the
efforts of Dr Atiq and said she would do
her utmost towards that valued cause.
While recalling her past she said she
still remembers the days when she used
to visit Bewal during her childhood. She
asked the people to become part of
project that visualises better health
facilities for their relatives and
friends back home.
Mr Arif
Mahmood Consulate said the Project has
already been kicked off so the people
must contribute with open hearts. He
assured Dr Atiq full support from High
Commission and government of Pakistan.
Special thanks to Mr Mushtaq Ahmad,
Mr Suhail Queraishi, Mr Suhail butt,
consultant orthopaedic surgeons and Mr
Shezad Shafquat consultant
ophthalmologist for their support in
organising the successful event.
