Bewal International Hospital (PAKISTAN)
Introduction

Bewal International Hospital is the first of its kind, a state of the art hospital in the region of Pothohar, PAKISTAN. It aims to provide health services for the people in need covering local population of 300,000 approx. This hospital is currently under construction.

The hospital is situated in the locality of BEWAL. Bewal is a small town approximately 50 miles from Islamabad the capital of Pakistan and is situated on the east border of Tehsil Gujar Khan in District Rawalpindi. This is a hugely crowded city with a population of over 100,000.

Background

In the area, there are some basic health facilities provided by central government but this is not sufficient for the need of local people. There are only few state funded basic health centres in the remote rural areas with poor medical facilities.

Vast majority of medical services are provided by local general practitioners on private basis which the poor local residents cannot afford. Children are still dying from treatable infectious diseases and as there is no provision of gynaecological & obstetrics services young mothers are dying while giving birth.

Heart disease is another preventable health issue on the rise and the people die before they get to any kind of treatment which is so freely available in western world. Trauma care services are also not available in any nearby hospital.

A large Asian community including immigrants from Bewal have settled in different areas of UK. They are very keen for the provision of good quality health service to the people of their native city and willing with their generous contributions to help the suffering population in Pakistan. This is the whole objective behind the start of Bewal International Hospital project.

Services

The aim of this project is to build 50-60 bedded charity hospital to serve not only the local population of Bewal but also covering the Pothohar region with a total population of over 300,000.

It is anticipated that most of the services in the hospital will be free for poor and needy patients but to meet the running cost of the hospital, the affording patients will be charged at a minimum cost.

Management

Bewal International Hospital is a project of Abdul Rehman Memorial Trust a charity registered with the charity commission in United Kingdom (Registered Charity No: 1114806).

ARM Trust (Abdul Rehman Memorial Trust) is responsible for management of the hospital. The trust board has been selected from local Asian community & people from Pakistan. All trust board members are resident in the UK.

Staffing

For staffing highly experienced staff will be acquired from within Pakistan and abroad to work in the hospital. Resident medical officer will be paid to do on call for 24 hours. Specialist out-patient clinics and operative service will be provided by visiting physicians and surgeons. Resident staff will be provided with local accommodations close to hospital.

Funding

We are contemplating a major charity hospital project to serve a community who is in desire need. This is a very noble cause and a project for needy and deserving poor people of third world who lack the basic health facilities. On humanitarian basis, our hearts and efforts goes to the deserving population who will benefit from this hospital. Large sum of money is required to build and equip the hospital with modern medical facilities.

The estimated cost for the entire project is over £1,000,000. This will be mainly generated through donations and gifts by local community.

Running cost of the hospital will be generated through the following,

o Regular donations by a selected pool of people from Pakistan and abroad

o Charitable donations e.g. Zakat Fund

o Hospital income

o Charitable events
